Learn techniques, foundations and perspectives on how to approach writing lyrics in your unique voice - throw out the rule-book and embrace lateral thinking, we got you.

OUR TEACHERS
Joel Beauchamp
Multi-Instrumentalist, Songwriter & Producer
Lead teacher Joel Beauchamp has over 30 years of musical experience in genres ranging from folk, metal, Indian classical, ambient and electronic. Picking up the piano at 5, drum kit at 9 and guitar at 11, Joel draws from the folk influences of his family and played in the Toronto metal/experimental/post-rock scene for 2 decades. All that time, he almost exclusively created original music, and was also a voracious reader and obsessive self-directed learner.
Yoga changed his life, lifting him out of a young adulthood riddled with mental health, addiction and debilitating psycho-somatic issues, and after abandoning his musical career for a short time to pursue a spiritual path a move to Bali led him back to music and his foray into ambient and Indian classical music. A couple of years later his romantic partnership with Yin Ling and the birth of their musical lovechild Secret Moon called him back to his folk/fingerstyle guitar roots. Music is not genre defined to Joel - he believes strongly that creation, artistry, transmutation and joy is at the heart of every style of musical expression no matter what it's outward-facing symbols may be.
Yin Ling
Singer, Recording Artist, Vocal Activator & Educator
Hailing from the island shores of sunny Singapore, Yin Ling has broken through a thick serving of Asian conditioning to pursue a life led on her own terms and a life entwined with music. Known for her haunting, ethereal vocals, she has been activating voices and sharing vocal teachings for the past 8 years. With a passion for singing instilled in her as a child from 2 karaoke-loving parents, Yin Ling has a degree in Theatre and a background in musical theatre and jazz singing.
Her rude spiritual awakening at age 20 led her on a journey of embodied de-conditioning, a foray into the healing and shamanic arts and a deep dive into the realm of sound healing. With a deep mission of facilitation and service, Yin Ling thrives in teaching fellow seekers to access greater human freedom through mindfulness and self-expression. Voice and music has now become her main vehicle for this impulse.

Please note that all payments made are 50% refundable up to 14 days prior to the event, and non-refundable after - in the case of illness/emergency, you may use the credit value of your payment to attend another Secret Moon Music School workshop/arrange potential private sessions (150USD/hr Voice/SongWriting/Music Production Lessons) within 3 months of your purchase.
In the case of cancellation on part of Secret Moon Music School, all payments will be refunded in full.
Pre-Requisites & Who this is for
Our camp is tailored for artists, creatives, song leaders and weavers - you can be at the beginning of your journey or have played an instrument for decades. A basic requirement to have at least a basic proficiency at 1 instrument, whether it is a few chords on the piano, harmonium, guitar etc.
You may have never written a song or already have songs produced - the common ground is you want to get better at it, gain new perspectives and also spend dedicated time to write, grow and refine skills. We are Secret Moon, and this is our Music School!
Built on the back of 30 years of musical experience in extensive genres from folk, metal, ambient, Indian classical, sound healing and everything in between. Fuelled by the love of music and a visible gap in the conscious-scene for solid musical education - we started hawking our unique teachings.
Helmed by multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Joel Beauchamp + Vocal Alchemist and Activator Yin Ling - together we combine technical knowledge, stellar facilitation and a rebel's attitude for unconventional but thoroughly effective music education and creative activation. Nothing cookie-cutter here.
We cut our teeth on over two-dozen 2-Day intensive formats over 4 years producing great results and a growing community of successful students - but we started to realise that we barely had time to touch the tip of the iceberg and had more to share. The 5-Day camp formats have been birthed to produce deeper and longer-term results for the student & artist!
